1980
An outstanding year!
In terms of writing:
« Jocelyne Trudelle trouvée morte dans ses larmes » (Jocelyne Trudelle Found Dead in her Own Tears)
« C’était avant la guerre à L’Anse-à-Gilles » (Before the War, Down at L’Anse-à-Gilles)
Narrative linking several plays performed by my theatre students at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (a university located in Chicoutimi, Quebec)
Narrative for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
In terms of directing:
My students’ show in Chicoutimi
Creation of my play Avec l’hiver qui s’en vient (Winter is Coming) at the Théâtre du Vieux-Québec, starring
Denise Gagnon
Micheline Bernard
as well as Jean Guy, Jeannine Angers, Claudine Raymond and André Lachance.
(The play has never been performed again since its creation 25 years ago. Would it stand the test of time? Not sure…)
I also directed
A collective play at the Théâtre de la Bordée, titled Ben voyons donc, ma tante! (Oh, Please, Auntie!)
A public reading of Ils étaient venus pour… (They Came For…) at the National Theatre School in Montreal.
In terms of acting:
I played the role of Petra in Fassbinder’s Les larmes amères de Petra von Kant (The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant) at the Théâtre du Vieux-Québec. The play was directed by Denise Gagnon.
The only misstep in this banner year: our first referendum, and Quebecers say NO to independence.
