A couple begins retirement in unsettling circumstances: he doesn’t speak anymore and delves into a solitude teeming with nostalgia, and she, who had been waiting for a chance to finally live, sees herself forced to become a nurse and servant. With the children seeing only what they want to see, the neighbour who doesn’t complain about the inferior status of wives, the doctor who expects patience out of the good will of her heart, the tension rises.
